About
A different way of looking at the problem.
For more than two decades, Darren McConaghy has worked at the intersection of injury rehabilitation, manual therapy, strength and conditioning, and human performance.
His approach — Reconditioning — brings those disciplines together to help people move beyond pain and injury and return to the activities and performance that matter to them.
Rather than treating an injury, symptom or body part in isolation, Darren looks at the entire picture: injury history, movement, mobility, strength, capacity, lifestyle and, most importantly, what the individual needs their body to be able to do.
The goal isn’t simply recovery. It’s building the capacity to perform again.
A Different Lens
Complex problems rarely have simple explanations.
Darren has developed a reputation for taking on cases that don’t fit neatly into a conventional box.
His approach is comprehensive but deliberately practical: understand the history, identify what matters, remove unnecessary complexity and develop a strategy specific to the individual.
That means being willing to question assumptions, look beyond the location of symptoms and draw from multiple disciplines rather than forcing every problem into a predetermined treatment model.
No protocols for the sake of protocols. No treating an image instead of a person. No separating rehabilitation from the demands of real life.
Just a relentless effort to understand what is limiting the individual — and what needs to change.
Education & Credentials
Darren earned an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology and Health Science and a Certificate in Athletic Therapy from York University.
Following graduation, he became a Certified Athletic Therapist through the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Seeking a deeper understanding of the relationships between structure, function and the body’s different systems, Darren subsequently completed the five-year program at the Canadian School of Osteopathy Manual Practice, earning his Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice.
His education across athletic therapy, strength and conditioning, manual osteopathy and movement — combined with more than two decades of practical experience — forms the foundation of his approach to Reconditioning.
Today
Experience shouldn’t be confined by geography.
Today, Darren works selectively with individuals, athletes, families, agents and organizations seeking a more comprehensive approach to injury, persistent physical problems and performance.
Engagements can begin remotely through a Private Reconditioning Consultation and, where appropriate, progress to concentrated in-person work or longer-term private reconditioning.
